An idea crossed my mind, and feeling a sense of mission, my brother and I embarked on a journey to do everything possible to provide free meals to as many people as possible through a mobile application called...
THE FOOLLOW OBJECTIVE
Application available on both IOS and ANDROID devices.
At a minimum, we grant ourselves one, two, or even three meals a day... Too many are unable to do so. Thanks to Foollow, it's now Mission Possible with two free meals per day.
Through its app, Foollow allows users to collect, via their smartphones, complimentary meal vouchers to be redeemed at its partner locations.
Collection points are designated for this purpose and are detectable on the app's GPS map. The user goes to the location marked by an icon... and collects their complimentary meal voucher. To validate the voucher, the user must agree to watch an advertisement. Afterward, they will be informed where to pick up their takeaway meal.
THE PROJECT
Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the game POKEMON GO and the principle of the association LES RESTOS DU CŒUR, Foollow distributes meal vouchers to as many people as possible. Later, Foollow will expand its offerings to provide other consumer goods such as pet food, baby items, hygiene products...
Each category of items to be collected has its dedicated icon, and the operating principle of the Foollow app remains the same.
Initially, we target disadvantaged people. To achieve this, we collaborate with municipalities and local associations to prioritize assistance to this segment of the population.
This helps identify the necessary resources to be implemented for each municipality :
- Quantify the potential number of meals to be offered and have them prepared by professional restaurants and local individuals.
- Define strategic locations for collection points to distribute the meal vouchers.
The Foollow project is very simple.
Everybody is free to register and benefit from the advantages of the Foollow App.
Using a geolocation system and a satellite map, the user can move towards strategically placed virtual terminals to retrieve a free meal voucher in the form of a temporary QR CODE, to be used at Foollow's partner establishments.
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
PROTOTYPE
This prototype provides an explanation and visual demonstration of how the application works for the user.
To use the application, the user must create an account and fill out a form. Once this is done, they can now log in and access the features of the Foollow app.
The home page of the application consists of a geolocated satellite map that allows the user to locate themselves and shows virtual terminals near their current position. The user can then select from several terminals around them, choosing the one they prefer.
The app shows the most suitable route. Upon arrival, the user must watch an advertisement to retrieve the free meal voucher in the form of a QR code.
Users also have access to several features, such as:
- Ability to search for virtual terminals based on their preferences and partner restaurants.
- Access to an history of obtained vouchers to check the remaining time for their use.
- Accessing statistics on routes and distances traveled.
- Having the option to make donations (Solidarity Fund).
FOOLLOW’S REVENUE
The application is available for free.
Each user fills out their profile, and all data is stored in our database, which, once analyzed, is stored and resold. Profile updates are regularly performed to have updated negotiable data to sell at a high price.
The application's business model relies primarily on revenue from advertising dissemination.
Users, through the mandatory viewing of advertisements to obtain free meals, unknowingly form an audience and a growing mercantile database.
Additional advertising revenues, deliberately not integrated into the turnover, remain confidential and innovative, as they are invented and developed by us, allowing us to further increase our annual income.
Municipalities are financially involved through a subscription based on the number of meals to be offered over the period. By accepting, they contribute to combating social hardship.
By collaborating with local associations and with the support of municipalities, Foollow establishes partnerships and obtains subsidies or municipal contributions.
Our simulation, calculated on a more than realistic basis, allows us to potentially generate a turnover exceeding 400 million in the first year.
THE COST
OF THE APP
Implementation costs for the Foollow application are minimal
Foollow connects a user with a service provider. There is no manufacturing, no inventory of goods, and no dedicated employee for the distribution of free meals. Foollow does not handle delivery.
The costs are the same for Foollow as for a typical SARL (Société à responsabilité limitée - a private limited company in French law). Everything is managed internally, and only the meals to be offered are purchased by Foollow.
They are bought at a negotiated purchase price and are largely offset by the overall revenue collected.
How does Foollow pay for the meals?
The voucher collected to obtain a free meal is equipped with a QR code.
The meal voucher is a standalone payment method.
When the user presents it to the restaurant, the restaurant only needs to scan it to be paid.
The market value is not indicated on the collection voucher as its value is negotiated in advance between Foollow and each of its meal preparers, whether professionals or individuals.
The keys to Foollow's success are :
- Increasing the number of subscribers
- Multiplying the number of meal preparers
- Obtaining the support of new municipalities
- Securing advertising budgets
- Aligning the number of meals to be offered with the number of application users and meal preparers
- Expanding its reach without constraints, in tandem with the application's development growth.
